MediaRecorder API picks the best codec for each browser — WebM/Opus on Chrome, AAC/MP4 on Safari, both play back natively on the dashboard. No SDK to install, no native app to maintain. iOS Safari since 14.5, Android since 2020.
Host moderation
Hide, delete, or feature with one tap.
Every memo on your dashboard has a Hide button (reversible — the file stays in storage but disappears from guest view) and a Delete button (removes the file permanently). Both decisions propagate to every open invite page within ~200ms via Realtime.
Independent privacy
Public photo gallery, host-only voice. Or any combination.
Voice has its own visibility setting and its own upload window — separate from the photo gallery on the same event. Want voice memos to only open on the wedding day? Set voice_opens_at to noon. Want the photo gallery public but voice memories private? Toggle voice_visibility to 'host_only'.

What hosts ask first.
No. Recording works in any modern browser — Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet. The browser asks once for microphone permission; that's the entire setup.
WebM/Opus on Chrome and Firefox, AAC inside an MP4 container on Safari. Both formats play natively in your dashboard's audio element. The bulk ZIP download preserves the original — no transcoding, no quality loss.
60 seconds. We auto-stop the recording at 60s so guests don't accidentally upload a 30-minute speech. The file size cap is 5 MB.
You can set a per-guest cap from the dashboard (works for photos too). Recurring guests with the same email or name count toward the cap so they can't bypass by switching to an anonymous submission.
Every memo has a Hide button on your dashboard — reversible, doesn't delete the file. There's also a permanent Delete button if needed. Both update what guests see in real time.
Premium events keep memos for 60 days. Pro keeps them for 12 months. You can download a ZIP of every memo at any time during that window.
They share the same event but have independent settings. Photos and voice each have their own visibility (Public / Guests only / Host only) and their own upload window. You can open voice uploads only on the wedding day while photos run the whole month, or vice versa.
Uploads queue locally and complete when the connection returns. A 60-second memo is roughly 500 KB to 1.5 MB depending on codec — well within a reception's data envelope.
